As downtown Salem grows, many arts and cultural organizations are growing with it. Enlightened Theatrics is a welcome addition to the downtown scene. Producing Artistic Director/Founder and Salem native Vincenzo Meduri founded the company in 2013 after spending time directing, teaching and producing theater in New York City.
Vincenzo is determined to bring the “Spirit of Broadway” to Salem, Oregon. “The new owners of Salem’s Historic Grand Theatre have a first-class vision of bringing New York-quality live theater, culture, entertainment and style to downtown Salem And they are already achieving it” he writes in a recent Salem Weekly post.
We are happy to see this company develop a following in the Salem, Oregon community and we recommend checking out one of their productions. The experience of watching performances in Salem’s Historic Grand Theatre in itself is worth the price of admission!
The next production is the popular holiday show, The 1940’s Radio Hour starting November 24th. Set in December 21, 1942, The 1940’s Radio Hour tells the story of The Mutual Manhattan Variety Cavalcade and the live broadcast from the Hotel Astor’s Algonquin Room which spread hope to overseas troops and those close to home during WWII. Musical numbers include favorite holiday tunes and American standards that will have audiences tapping their toes and humming along. If this production doesn’t put you in the holiday spirit, we don’t know what will.
