Total Solar Eclipse

Everyone is talking about the total solar eclipse that will occur on August 21, 2017! The shadow first touches land near Newport, Oregon at about 10:15 in the morning and lasts a full minute and fifty seconds of totality. Within two minutes the shadow will extend eastward toward Dallas, Albany, Corvallis, Lebanon, Philomath, McMinnville, Woodburn and Salem!

In fact, Salem Oregon will be the first of five state capitals in the United States that will be in the shadow of the total solar eclipse on August 21, 2017 and there is no shortage of local eclipse events to mark the occasion.

Total solar eclipses are rare and one of nature’s grandest events. There’s a tremendous amount of excitement and buzz locally and nationally about this one. Forecasters predict we are in for quite a show!

Local hotels are being booked quickly so we strongly recommend that you make your travel arrangements as early as possible so you can view this monumental occasion. During your visit, we hope you’ll take the opportunity to explore our local attractions and check out some of these eclipse events.

Visit www.travelsalem.com for more information on these and other events.
